Ever since I was a teenager I knew I wanted to be an Orthodontist. I had such a wonderful experience being a patient that I knew I wanted to pay it forward and help create wonderful smiles for patients of my own one day.
Orthodontics requires planning for the future, to map out a sequence of intricate movements with the end result of a beautiful, healthy smile. My favorite part is the end result, when the braces or attachments come off and all that’s left is a beaming, radiant confident smile. I treasure those moments and the impact it makes in our patients’ lives. I have wanted to be an Orthodontist ever since I was in braces and I am excited to provide you with the type of care that will inspire you to smile.
Education and Experience
I received my Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University where I majored in Physiology. I then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where I graduated with honors in clinical dentistry. Afterwards I moved to New York City and completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center. I was most excited to receive my training in Orthodontics at Vanderbilt University, one of the few remaining hospital based orthodontic programs in the country.
As with most fields, advances in technology are changing the way we practice Orthodontics. I enjoy attending continuing education courses so that our patients can benefit from the latest innovations in treatment options.
Outside the Office
Originally from Michigan, I have traveled the country to get the most comprehensive orthodontic training. Although my education took me to many different places, the East Coast has always felt like home. I am happy to be back in the area with the skillset to offer you the highest standard of care. I am what you would call an extrovert and I strive to make my patients' orthodontic experience fun and relaxed. I am thrilled to be a member of the esteemed Byrdsmiles Orthodontics team and to continue the legacy of creating radiant smiles in the Washington D.C. area.
During my free time I enjoy yoga, travel and reading novels. A few countries I hope to visit one day include Australia, Ireland and Ecuador. I always have my nose in a book and one of my favorite ways to pass an evening is to cook a good meal and enjoy it with even better company. I live in Washington D.C. with my husband, Christopher, and we enjoy getting together with his tight knit family nearby in Virginia on the weekends.
